Teen Expectations

Thank you for your “yes” to work for Christ. We are all called in many different ways to serve Christ and Project Life is just one excellent way to live out our Baptism. Therefore, in order to make this week of service an awesome experience for everyone involved there are some expectations that we as coordinators have for you. Remember that in order for this week to have an awesome impact we are going to challenge everyone to sacrifice many of the luxuries that we have in our life to better understand the underprivileged lives of others.
1. Stereo equipment will be provided by the staff. I will NOT bring personal stereo equipment for the week, including IPods, CD players, Disc Man, TV’s, video games, MP3 Players, etc. I will also not bring a laptop or other electronic equipment.  The staff of the week has final say.
2. Absolutely no cell phones or pagers. They will be taken immediately and given back at the end of the week.  If you need to use a phone please see one of the coordinators or chaperones.
3. No alarm clock will be needed.  Project Life staff will be your alarm for the week.
4. Each day has been carefully planned with many different activities, and getting started on time is needed. Therefore, I will be ready to leave for breakfast each day by TBA. Plan on sacrificing your outer beauty for your inner beauty this week.
5. Appropriate dress is required at all times. Tank tops, spaghetti strap shirts, shirts in which the midriff would be showing, two-piece swimming suits will NOT be allowed the entire week of Project Life.  Girls may wear a one-piece swim suit or a tankini in which the stomach is covered. For men, no muscle shirts (beaters) and shirt must be worn at all times. The only exception on shirts will be in the pool area.
6. Time for recreation, eating, serving, sharing, and sleeping has been planned for everyone, so please work with that plan for the week. For example, complying with curfew rules, and staying in your own sleeping area. Quiet hour begins at 11:00 PM. All teens must be in the sleeping area. “Lights Out” is at 12:00 AM. At this time, everyone will go to sleep and no talking will be permitted.
7. This week is a great way to serve Christ for an entire week. Therefore, plan to be there the entire week because you will not be given the chance to leave. If an emergency arises, and you must leave, you must contact the leader of the week.
8. This week you will be asked to participate in every activity, regardless. Come with an open mind and an energetic heart because Christ is counting on you.
9. Teens from all over St. Louis will be working together. A cooperative and loving attitude is needed to respect everyone on a personal basis.
10. Respect for the facilities we use and the sites that we travel to is imperative. Respect is a large part of this week because the facilities and help given to us is all voluntary and is given to us out of respect.
11. To ensure everyone’s safety, there will be no leaving your group, work site, St. Mary’s School (guys), St. Elizabeth’s (girls), St. Cecilia’s or other activity for any reasons. In the case this happens, your immediate dismissal will result.
12. Absolutely NO smoking, drugs, alcohol, fireworks or profanity is permitted during the entire week of Project Life.
13. In order to carry out the work of Christ, we must always present ourselves as Christians wherever we go throughout the week.
14. Project Life is not a time to stay in your own secure world. Therefore, we ask that you take advantage of meeting new people, because we can guarantee as directors we will put you in groups to help you get to know new people.
15. If a problem arises, it should be bought to the attention of the coordinators so that it can be taken care of as soon as possible.  I understand that any instance of insubordination will not be tolerated and will be subject to appropriate discipline.

I fully understand the above statements, and I am prepared to fulfill these expectations in order to make this week of service positively impact my life. I further agree to display an attitude of openness, respect, and Christianity to everyone involved in Project Life.
